Vintage Kalamazoo Gibson Mandolin pre 1938
I have up for bid a nice VINTAGE, Made In Japan, Alvarez A-100 Mandolin in the original hard-shell case that has
been electrified with a DeArmond Guitar Microphone for electric applications. You can play it with or without an
amplifier. It has the Alvarez Logo inlayed in the headstock and rather than dots, it has small little crosses inlayed in the neck.
It was purchased new in 1988 and the original paperwork and receipt will be included.
Unlike the newer Alvarez Mandolins that are made in Korea, this one is crafted in Japan, looks great, and plays as
good as it looks. It’s adjusted and set up with new strings so it’s ready to play, but it comes with a full set of
GHS Professional Phosphor Bronze Mandolin Strings SET A260 Medium Light and a few extra new loose strings as well.
Also included is a Padded leather strap and cables that go with the DeArmond mic to hook up to an amplifier.
There are only a few instruments that are capable of expressing the range of emotion and energy of a mandolin.
Simply listen to a great bluegrass band and you can instantly appreciate how the mandolin makes the sad songs
a little sadder and puts the smile and gleem in the happy songs.
The mandolin is also one of those rare instruments that seems at home in lots of different musical styles.
Pop, rock, and country have always used the mandolin for color and texture as well as solo work. .
